The Original Sand Sculpting Trail
The History
The Original Sand Sculpting Trail is a production of Fitzysnowman Studios. The Trail, founded in 2011 and funded in part by the town of Yarmouth and the greater Yarmouth Business community has grown from its humble beginnings as a means to boost tourism, to a world class event that attracts millions of visitors from around the globe.
Each year over 100 tons of sand is imported and distributed in piles to local participating business owners. The owners of Fitzysnowman Studios, Sean and Tracey, then spend the next 30 plus days transforming those piles into detailed magical sand sculptures that somehow survive the entire summer into early Fall. It serves as a shoulder season event while the sculpting is in progress during the early Spring months. It then transitions into a destination event where millions of visitors and thousands of locals grab a map and try to find each one. It is estimated that the event has generated over 500 million in direct economic impact since its inception.
The Future
We are a husband-and-wife team who have dedicated the last 35 years to the impermanent art of sand sculptures from coast to coast and the islands of Hawaii. We got out start in New England, by producing the first professional sand sculpture competition in Massachusetts history in 2005 , We have been the recipients of multiple commendations by the Massachusetts State Legislature. Our work includes both large-scale and medium-scale sand sculptures, with exciting projects like the Yarmouth Sand Sculpture Trail 2025 and the upcoming Yarmouth Sand Sculpture Trail 2026, showcasing our artistic vision.
